poem | “Love You”

To the people I have said "love you" to and they have said it back,
I do not disagree, that "I"
is a heavy commitment far too momentous for our mouths:
we dissolve ourselves entirely, like solvents as if this is a solution,
throwing around "love you's" unburdened by the fact that the
love is just an exhale, one that could have come from anyone (any lung)
"I" is not a part of it,
I am not responsible.

But even so, to the people who've heard "love you" and said it too,
I think you should know,
I love you,
I love you,
I love you.
